I thought I was over him. Or maybe I just convinced myself I was, because that’s what you’re supposed to do when someone you love chooses someone else.

But last week? That wrecked me in a way I wasn’t ready for.

I enrolled in this professional course—something to boost my resume, keep me distracted. On the first day, I walked into the room, trying to stay confident and focused. And then she walked in. His wife. The woman he married instead of me. The one he wakes up beside every morning. The one who gets the kisses, the inside jokes, the long drives, the “how was your day?” talks. And now… the one who shares a baby with him.

She sat right next to me. Just like that. Smiling. Friendly. Chatty. No clue who I was or what she meant to me—how seeing her felt like my lungs were slowly collapsing. I smiled back. What else could I do?

The whole time I sat there thinking about how she’s living the life I used to picture every night before I fell asleep. The weekends I imagined with him. The family holidays. The quiet, sleepy mornings. All of it. Hers now. And me? I’m still trying to move on while pretending like it doesn’t sting every single second she’s near.

It’s wild, isn’t it? How someone else’s happiness can sit right next to you, unaware, while you’re silently breaking inside. I don’t hate her. I just wish I didn’t feel so damn forgotten.
