Today has to be one of the most embarrassing days of my life. I was running late for work (as usual), scarfing down a bagel a little too fast while speed-walking to the office, and I guess my stomach just wasn’t having it. I felt totally fine until I stepped into the building, and that’s when it hit.

The dizziness came first, followed by this horrible, queasy feeling that I tried to ignore. I work in a co-working space, so it’s always a bit crowded, but luckily there’s a little “phone booth” I could duck into when I started to feel like I might lose it. It’s essentially just a small cubicle with a desk and a seat, so I thought I’d be able to gather myself, make it through my conference call, and avoid the worst of it.

But nope. As soon as I sat down, it was clear this wasn’t going to go as planned. The queasiness turned into full-blown nausea, and before I knew it, I was fighting the urge to puke. I tried swallowing it down, like that would somehow fix it. Huge mistake. Suddenly, it all came up—right onto the desk in front of me.

It was bad. Really bad. I felt lucky that I was in the booth at least, so there was some privacy. But of course, the worst part was that one guy walked by and glanced through the glass just as it happened. I could see his face shift from casual indifference to complete shock. That just made everything worse.

I muted myself on the call, excused myself quickly, and rushed to clean up. The shame is real. I don’t know if I’ll ever live this one down at the office. And honestly, I’m not sure I can look at that phone booth the same way ever again.

Anyway, moral of the story: Don’t eat too fast, and definitely don’t speed-walk on an empty stomach. I’m lucky it wasn’t worse, but man, I’m never going to forget this one.
