Yesterday was a huge milestone for me—my first solo flight. I’ve always been a bit nervous about flying, so this was a big step. I’d been preparing for weeks, trying to mentally gear up for the whole experience, but nothing could have fully prepared me for what happened.

It started out smoothly. After clearing security, I went through the usual routine of putting my electronics in a separate bag, which was standard procedure. But for some reason, I decided to mix things up this time and put them in a different bag than usual. Honestly, I didn’t think much of it at the time.

The flight was fine, though I was a little on edge, as I tend to be. After I landed, I picked up my luggage right away—no issues there. Or so I thought. I was already halfway to my destination in the airport taxi when it hit me: I didn’t have my electronics bag. It didn’t take long for my heart to sink. I turned to the driver and basically begged him to turn around.

Luckily, it was the last flight of the day, so the plane hadn’t gone anywhere yet. The officials at the airport were really helpful, and within what felt like an eternity, they were able to retrieve my bag. I had to pay the cab driver more than I expected, but honestly, I was just relieved that I was going to get my stuff back.

As a nervous flier, this didn’t help my anxiety at all. But in the end, I’m really grateful to the staff at IndiGo Airlines for going above and beyond to help me out. I was really starting to panic, and they calmed me down and made sure I was taken care of. It was definitely a chaotic experience, but at least it’s one I can laugh about now.

Lesson learned: Always double-check where you put your things. And maybe next time, I’ll try to relax a little more on the plane.
